Department Introduction
Our department was founded in 2003, making it the youngest environmental engineering department in Taiwan. It spans three major areas: environmental engineering, zero emissions, and circular economy. The university admission scores rank first among private schools in the field of environmental engineering, surpassing those of newly established national universities. We lead in both the average number of journal publications and project execution amounts among all departments at Chung Yuan University, ranking first. In terms of total publications and funding, we rank second.
Currently, the ratio of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students is approximately 220:100:30, with around 40 international students enrolled in master’s and doctoral programs, the highest nationwide. Our curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, with about 15 adjunct professors from industry, government, and research sectors. Senior-level courses strengthen students’ engineering presentation skills and cross-cultural English communication abilities. We collaborate with world-renowned institutions such as the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, ETH Zurich, the University of Iowa, and Tongji University in Shanghai. Through exchange programs, we aim to jointly cultivate the next generation of international environmental engineering talents.
